Special bus service for Apeksha Hospital patients

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Sri Lanka Transport Board has commenced a special bus service for patients visiting the Maharagama Apeksha Hospital for treatment.

The measure has been taken as a large number of patients visiting clinics at the Hospital daily face difficulties, as a result of issues pertaining to public transport due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The transport service has been in effect since Monday and has been named ‘Apeksha Express’. Refrigerator facilities have also been installed in the buses as patients must store medication in minimum temperature.

Long distance transport services are provided for patients daily from several places including Matale, Nuwara-Eliya, Anuradhapura, Hanguranketha, Kandy, Nikaweratiya, Godakawela, Galgamuwa and Mullaitivu.

The Ministry of Transport Services Management has directed attention towards continuing the service for clinic patients arriving from outstation areas, even after the COVID-19 pandemic is mitigated in Sri Lanka.
