“No More Super Ministerial Portfolios” – Akila Viraj Kariyawasam

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam says Sri Lanka sustainable development act and special provisional act on development are two separate acts brought by the government. He noted that some politicians have misled the people as interpreting the two acts as same.

The Minister made these comments at a media briefing held at the UNP party headquarters today. The Sri Lanka sustainable development act targets to improve environmental protection and public participation in development activities. It is aim to safeguard democratic practices.

The Minister said that the government has no intention to create super ministerial portfolios. He pointed out that many super Ministers, super parliamentarians and super secretaries were in active during the past regime. He highlighted that obstructing the country’s development is a sever injustice that is caused on the country’s youth.
