State honour for late Thondaman today

(UTV | COLOMBO) -The remains of the leader of the Ceylon Workers’ Congress Minister of Livestock and Rural Community Development the late Arumugan Thondaman will be placed at the Parliamentary complex today in state honour.

The Parliament Communications Department said the remains will be placed in the hall adjacent to the foyer between 10.45am and 11.30am to pay last respects.

Thereafter the remains will leave the Parliament premises at 11.30am.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Former Speaker of the 8th Parliament Karu Jayasuriya and Former Ministers and Parliamentarians are scheduled to arrive in Parliament to pay respects to Arumugan Thondaman.

General Secretary of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake informed former Ministers, former Parliamentarians, Foreign Ambassadors, and staff of state departments and the Parliament staff to be present at 10.30am to pay last respects.
