Another 14 patients identified; total cases rise to 1,162

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The number of coronavirus cases in the country has risen to 1,162.

Another 14 persons were tested positive for the virus.

Accordingly the total number of positive coronavirus cases confirmed thus far today now stands at 21.

The Government Information Department said seven were identified as Lankan returnees from Kuwait, who were at the Minneriya quarantine centre.

Another 457 active coronavirus cases are presently being treated at seven hospitals in the country.

79 individuals who are suspected to have contracted the virus are also under observation.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 21 individuals who tested positive for the virus were discharged today after making complete recoveries.

The number of recoveries has accordingly risen to 695.

12 persons were receiving treatment at the Navy General Hospital, four at the Homagama Base Hospital, two each at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases and the Colombo East Base Hospital and one from the Iranawila Base Hospital.
