COPA report for 2018 presented in Parliament

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The report by the Committee on Public Accounts on 844 state institutions, Provincial Councils and Local Government for the 2018 Fiscal Year was tabled in Parliament today by Chairman State Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna.

The Department of Communication said the report consists of over 800 pages.

A computer networking system evaluates public accounting systems, financial control and the performance of government institutions annually while the report was prepared accordingly.

Nearly 110 organizations which achieved a high performance record will be presented awards at the Parliamentary complex under the patronage of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on the 28th of February.

Under a concept of the Committee on Public Accounts of the 8th Parliament, a computer networking system to evaluate state, Provincial Councils and Local Government commenced in 2016 based on the fiscal year of 2015 with the objective of streamlining financial and performance aspects of government institutions.

The programme was successfully implemented in 2015, 2016, 2017 and in 2018.
