Wuhan Province returnees to Diyatalawa

(UTV |COLOMBO) – Sri Lankans arriving from the China’s Wuhan Province will be quarantined for two weeks at the Diyatalawa Army Base Hospital. The decision was made with the directions of the acting Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva.

According to the alert by the Army Commander on this issue, Sri Lankans arriving from the Wuhan Province have to undergo two weeks quarantine period at the Diyatalawa Army Base Hospital. Two dormitories will be set up there to accommodate suspicious coronavirus persons.

A special function was held at the Diyatalawa Army Base Hospital to construct two buildings and the Army 17 Corps Engineer Service Regiment troops of the Security Force Headquarters –Central (SFHQ-Cen) will build them.

Those will comprise 32 rooms and will be equipped with medical tools, WIFI Communication systems, thermometers and other necessary modern systems.

Army Health Services Director General Major General Sanjeewa Munasinghe and Colombo Army Hospital’s Preventive Medcine and Mental Health Services Deputy Director Colonel Dr. Savin Gamage will oversee the project. A team of Medical Officers of the Army Hospital in Diyatalawa under the directions of the Officer Commanding at the Diyatalawa Army Base Hospital will handle the project.

The troops of the Security Forces Headquarters–Central are renovating another three buildings at the Diyatalawa Army Base Hospital under the initiative of Commander of the Security Forces Headquarters–Central, Major General Laksiri Waduge.

Acting Chief of the Defence Staff and Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva had taken further steps to update the scanning group at the Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport by sending a group of Army personnel to help thermal scanning process at the Air Port.
