Vegetable prices drop at Dambulla Economic Center

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Traders in the Dambulla Dedicated Economic Center said a sharp drop in the prices of vegetables was being experienced at present and that it was mainly due to large stocks of vegetables arriving from the North.

They said the vegetable prices that had skyrocketed for the last several months much to the anxiety of the consumers was now on the decline. They pointed out that the price of vegetables that were between Rs. 150-and 300 a kilo had reduced to about Rs. 60. However, they said the prices of several varieties of upcountry vegetables are yet to be reduced.

Traders pointed out that the price of big onions which had been retailing between Rs. 150 and 200 had now reduced to Rs. 45.
