General amnesty period for Navy absentees

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Under the directives of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, in his capacity as the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, a week-long general amnesty has been declared for Tri-Forces absentees.

Accordingly, the Naval Personnel who were absent from Naval service without following correct procedures will get an opportunity to receive a discharge or to re-join and continue their national service to the country.

The general amnesty period will be in force for 7-days commencing from 05 February.

Further, this general amnesty period is relevant only to naval absentees who have been marked absent without leave before 30 September 2019. As such, Naval absentees of this category may report to the nearest Naval Base to re-join their service or to leave it following the correct procedure.

This measure has been taken by the President, with the intention to provide an opportunity for Tri-Forces Personnel who had served the nation under difficult circumstances facing numerous hardships and had left their respective services without following proper procedures.
