Presidential unit investigates Lactowatte

(UTV|COLOMBO) – A special Presidential investigative unit has begun investigations into Lactowatte in Wanathavilluwa, Puttalam that is believed to have been used as a training camp by Zahran Hashim in the Easter Sunday attacks.

A prominent online media portal reported that the unit, that visited the area yesterday, questioned several persons.

Statements were recorded from a Former Grama Seva Officer in Karadipuwal, the current Grama Seva Officer, and the Police Officer in Charge of the Wanathavilluwa Division.

The Presidential investigative unit also questioned several residents of Lactowatte.

Information of Lactowatte emerged after a group was arrested for vandalising a Buddhist statue in the area was questioned.

The Criminal Investigations Department first uncovered informed of Lactowatte on the 16th of January 2019 where several explosives were found. (NR)
