Mano irked by new Constitutional Amendments

(UTV|COLOMBO) – United National Front Parliamentarian Mano Ganesan says the 21st and 22nd Constitutional Amendments proposed by MP Wijeyadasa Rajapaksa is an attempt to undermine the victories achieved in the spheres of democracy and freedom in the country, during the past few years.

Speaking to a prominent online news portal in the isle, MP Ganesan said the public must come forward and defeat these proposed Constitutional Amendments which seek to do away with the parliamentary representation of minority non-mainstream political parties.

He said Parliamentarian Wijeyadasa Rajapaksa is attempting to damage the victories the public achieved during the recent past in terms of democracy and freedom.

MP Ganesan it is an attempt to divide and destroy the country based on personal agendas.

He said the government faction is delivering a message to the public of the importance of the bullet instead of the ballot, which according to the former Minister will lead to massive destruction.

Parliamentarian Mano Ganesan urged the entire country to reject such proposals and safeguard the country.

He said all factions should rally together irrespective of party differences and rebuild our country.
