FCID to produce facts on Wijeweera & Seneviratne in Court

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division will produced facts before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court related to the arrests of Former Director General of the Sri Lanka Customs Jagath Wijeweera and Former Additional Director General of Customs Tharaka Seneviratne.

The duo was arrested by the Police FCID last evening.

The FCID was ordered to arrest the duo last week over irregularities during the construction of the Sanda Hiru Seya.

Jagath Wijeweera and Tharaka Seneviratne are accused of handing over 8 kilograms of gold of the Customs, for the construction of the Sanda Hiru Seya in Anuradhapura in 2014.

The FCID is conducting an investigation into the matter at present. Wijeweera was arrested while receiving treatment at the Sri Jayawardenepura Hospital while Seneviratne was arrested while at the Badulla General Hospital.
