Ban on face coverings not in effect – Police

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The regulation banning face coverings such as the Burka, Nikab, and Full Face helmets will not be in effect, the Police Headquarters said.

The Police said this in a response letter sent to Muslim Affairs Minister M.H.A Hakeem by Deputy Inspector General Ajith Rohana of the Police Legal Branch.

DIG Rohana noted that these regulations had been imposed under the Emergency Regulations and that such laws will not be in effect since the Emergency Regulations are not in effect anymore.
