UPFA nominates Shantha Bandara to fill Salinda’s seat in Parliament

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) has nominated former Parliamentarian Shantha Bandara to fill the vacant seat of Salinda Dissanayake in Parliament.

UPFA General Secretary Mahinda Amaraweera said that they had written to the Elections Commission (EC) in this regard yesterday (Sept 12).

The seat of Mr. Dissanayake, who represented the UPFA from the Kurunegala district, had fallen vacant following his demise last month.

National List parliamentarian Shantha Bandara had resigned from his position seeking to fill the vacancy.

However, the EC had gazetted the name of D.B. Herath who had previously served as a provincial minister in the North Western Province.
