(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Each farmer family affected by the Maha season drought will be given a special assistance of Rs 10,000 for the month of April and it will be paid before the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, Agriculture Minister Duminda Dissanayaka said.
Accordingly, the farmers whose paddy crop was affected due to the drought, farmers who planted other crops as well as farmers who didn’t plant paddy due to the drought will be eligible for this special financial assistance.
The Agriculture Minister has instructed the relevant authorities to take steps to settle the payments as soon as possible.
