Turkmenistan sink Sri Lanka in World Cup qualifier

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Turkmenistan began their FIFA World Cup qualifier campaign on a winning note when they beat hosts Sri Lanka 2-0 in the first leg at Racecourse in Colombo yesterday. At half time the visitors led 1-0.

Sri Lanka played defence for the entire match and failed to create attacking opportunities. Turkmenistan kicked off the proceedings and attacked from the start with some slick passes.

The visitors took the lead in the eighth minute when their striker Orazasahedov Vahyt netted the ball in with his first shot at goal. Sri Lanka skipper also tried several good moves in the match was denied at the end of the game

Turmenistan skipper Amnov Arslan added another stunner to their goal tally in the 53rd minute with a free kick where he placed the ball brilliantly under the Sri Lanka defence. (DN Sport)
