(UTV|COLOMBO) – The JVP says it will campaign for the Presidential Election under its manifesto “Build Sri Lanka”.

Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo today, the Propaganda Secretary of the JVP Parliamentarian Vijitha Herath said alternate economic and political policies will be introduced to relieve people suffering from true economic distress.

The MP claimed the National People’s Power was the only party that represented alternate economic and political policies.

MP Herath revealed the National People’s Power compiled its manifesto several months ago based on the manifesto released by the Organisation of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka on the 19th of February.

The Parliamentarian reiterated the National People’s Power will contest the election under this manifesto.

MP Herath added the JVP will be change the ideologies of people pertaining to the abolishment of the Executive Presidency.

The MP noted the JVP followed certain tactical procedures at previous Presidential Elections.

MP Herath noted at the 2015 General Election, the JVP contested under independent policies.

Parliamentarian Herath said the JVP had no intention of intervening in the formation of a government but revealed the party had constantly taken several approaches for the abolishment of the Executive Presidency.
