A suspect with 500 illegal cigarettes, apprehended

(UTV|COLOMBO) – A suspect with 500 illegal cigarettes, was apprehended during a raid carried out by the Navy in coordination with Police STF, at Siribopura area in Hambanthota.

Accordingly, a suspect who possessed 500 Nos. of illegal cigarettes which were packed in 25 packets and set for sale, was apprehended during a raid carried out by Southern Naval Command, in coordination with Police STF officers of Panwewa.

The suspect is a resident of Sippikulama area in Hambanthota, aged 20. He, along with the haul of cigarettes was handed over to Hambanthota Police for onward action.

Under the directives of Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, Sri Lanka Navy carries out frequent raids over all Naval Commands in order to prevent such illegal activities and by that large quantity of illegal drugs and drug traffickers have been grabbed for legal action.
