ACMC to involve in Kalmunai issue

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Members of Kalmunai Muslim community praised the Leader of ACMC on August 5 for his efforts to solve the Kalmunai Divisional Secretariat issue peacefully.

ACMC leader meanwhile urged the Kalmunai representatives to work for an amicable and sustainable solution, rather than rushing for quick answers.

“ACMC has been calling for a peaceful solution to Kalmunai issue that would address concerns of all parties” stressed the Leader of ACMC and Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen on 5 August in Colombo. Minister Bathiudeen was responding to an appeal by a delegation from Kalmunai -consisting of members of Muslim civil society, community, business and religious representatives -who met him in Colombo on 5 August. Representatives from Kalmunai Jumma Mosque Federation and Kalmunai Business Association too were among them. . The delegation was led by SLMC MP H. M. M. Harees. Minister Bathiudeen was responding to them after they requested for a solution to the Kalmunai issue. The representatives also pleaded ACMC to continue to work on the Kalmunai issue in future. Minister Bathiudeen stressed that the solution should not harm any community.

“ACMC will continue to involve in the Kalmunai issue in future as well” Minister Bathiudeen assured.

In June, the Local Government Minister Vajira Abeywardena announced a National Committee was appointed to resolve land issues in the Kalmunai North Divisional Secretariat to hear the representations of relevant parties on issues relating to land and Grama Niladhari Divisions in this connection.
