Anglican Church Head to visit Sri Lanka

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The World Head of the Church of England, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Right Reverend Dr. Justin Welby, will be in Sri Lanka on a 12-day solidarity visit on 19 August.

He will be conducting two Holy Communion Services at the Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour at Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo on 29 August and at the Kurunegala Cathedral on 30 August as part of this solidarity visit to announce the formation of a Province for the country.

The Archbishop of Canterbury has given his assent as the President of the Anglican Consultative Council (ACC), for the formation of an independent and autonomous Province and agreed to proceed to the next stage in this endeavour which will see the formation of a third Diocese for the Church of Ceylon.
