Loaf of bread up by Rs.5 from midnight

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The All Ceylon Bakery Owners’ Association has decided to increase the price of a 450g loaf of bread by Rs.5 from midnight today.

Speaking to a prominent online news portal in the isle, the Chairman NK Jayawardena said bakery owners decided to increase the price of bread, based on the decision reached by wheat flour companies to increase the price of a kilogram of Prima wheat flour by Rs.8 from yesterday.

Jayawardena however said the Association decided not to increase the prices of other bakery products.

He also called on bakery owners to consider difficulties faced by consumers, when increasing the price of other bakery products and requested owners to do so in a fair manner.
