“CID report clears Rishad” – Premier

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Investigations conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have cleared the former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen as the allegations levelled against him proved baseless, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe stated.

The Premier made this revelation addressing a public meeting in Kinniya to mark the opening a building for Kinniya Central College yesterday (14).

“Following the Easter Sunday attacks there was an allegation that the former Minister Bathiudeen attempted to influence the Commander of the Sri Lanka’s Army Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, something which the Army Commander denied and reiterated the Minister did not attempt to influence him,” the Prime Minister stressed.

Accordingly, the CID had submitted an investigation report to the Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, clearing the former Minister as there is no evidence linking to allegations levelled against him, the Premier emphasised.
