Romesh and Tiny at the helm of Havies

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Two rugby promoters Romesh Abeywickrema and Tiny Samath have been elected again for another term as the president and secretary of Havelock Sports Club at the 104th AGM on Sunday at the club house.

Abeywickrema is a product of St. Joseph’s College and Samath is a former Royalist and led the ‘Bambaras’ in 1979. Both of them together with rest of the committee from June 2018 to June 2019 did a lot for the club’s development in a momentous year as they won the Clifford Cup after 38 years..

Once again a stalwart of the club Gamini Fernando was elected as a Patron along with Lal Silva, Ana Saranapala, Jeyer Rodriguez, Dan Rutnam, Anton Benedict, Wimal Senanayake, Killi Pulendran and Lucien Rajakarunanayake.

The trustees are Christy Kunanandhan and Ivor Maharoof. The rest of the committee are Anuja Premaratne, PC, and Rajive Perera

(vice-presidents), Mangala Dharmapriya (assistant secretary), Thusitha Peiris (treasurer), Nirupan Wijeyanathan (assistant treasurer), Dinuka Perera (bar and restaurant secretary), V.S. Perry (ground secretary),

Eranga Katipearachchi (social secretary), Roshan Opatha (joint sports secretary), Nishantha ‘Alex’ Chanaka (WPRFU representative), Yoosuf Mukthar (past president) in addition to Rohan Gomis, Dominic Alles, Hiran Nanayakkara and the chairman disciplinary committee Chaminda Rupasinghe.
