(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – President Maithripala Sirisena is scheduled to leave on an official tour of Russia tomorrow following an invitation extended by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Head of State will engage in the tour after Sri Lanka and Russia completed 60 years of diplomatic relations.
A five member Ministerial delegation including Minister of Foreign Affairs Mangala Samaraweera will participate in the tour of Russia.
The BBC World Service reported this is the first occasion a Sri Lankan President is engaging in a visit of Russia since 1947 when Former Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike visited the nation.
The tour is scheduled to conclude on the 24th of March.
