Easter Blasts in Sri Lanka: Special Investigation Committee to be appointed today

(UTV|COLOMBO) – President Maithripala Sirisena is set to appoint a Special Investigation Committee headed by a Judge of the Supreme Court on Monday (22).

The Committee will study the reasons that pave the way for the bombings on Sunday (21), and submit its report within 2-weeks to the President.

President Sirisena arrived in the country last night after concluding his private visit to India and Singapore.

At least 290 people were killed and 500 more injured in a series of explosions across Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday, one of the most sacred days of the year for Christians.
