Sanjay Kapoor shares an emotional post on Divya Bharti’s death anniversary

(UTV|COLOMBO) – On the fateful night of April 15, 1993, Divya Bharti passed away in an accident as she fell from her home’s balcony. On her 26th death anniversary, Sanjay Kapoor remembers in a emotional post.

Divya Bharti was a star in the 90s. Apart from her doll-like face, Divya was a phenomenal performer who’s versatility drew the audience to the theatres. After getting offers since the age of 14, Divya made her Bollywood debut in the hit film, Vishwatma that continues to play on TV channels even today. With saat samundar being one of the most popular songs of the 90s, Divya’s untimely and sudden death took the industry by a storm. It was today, 26 years ago that Divya died at the age of 19.

While cine-goers mourn her death, Divya’s Kartavya co-star shared a throwback picture of the actress on the occasion of her death anniversary. He wrote, “You will always be missed, #april5th #1993#26thdeathanniversary #divyabharti”  But the film never released with Divya sharing screen space with Sanjay. Divya had shot for about 30 percent of the film, but after her untimely death, the actress was replaced by Juhi Chawla and the film was eventually released in 1995.

Divya was at her home, the fifth floor of Tulsi Apartments in Versova along with designer Neeta Lulla, her husband, Shyam and house help, Amrita on the fateful night of April 5. Even before the guests knew it, Divya had fallen off the balcony and landed in a pool of her own blood. She was immediately rushed to the hospital where internal injuries and head injuries were declared as the cause of death. Although she was cremated on April 7, people continue to speculate the cause of her death even today. From suicide to accidental death, no reason has been stated yet, but fans continue to miss her doll-like face on the silver screen.

While Divya’s legacy stays through her contribution to cinema, the actress will always be remembered. Stay tuned for all the updates.
