Cricketer Dimuth Karunaratne granted bail

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka Test Cricket Captain Dimuth Karunaratne who was arrested by the Borella Police, on charges of driving under the influence of liquor and being involved in a vehicle accident, granted bail after being produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court on Monday (01).

Karunaratne was released on two sureties of Rs. 100, 000 each. His driving license has also been temporarily suspended.

The vehicle Karunaratne was driving had collided with a three-wheeler in Borella around 5.30 on Sunday morning (31) at Kinsey Road in Borella.

The driver of the three-wheeler who sustained minor injuries has been admitted to the National Hospital in Colombo.

Karunaratne who was arrested following the accident by the Borella Police, later granted Police bail.
