Bangladesh team in lockdown after shots fired at Christchurch Mosque

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Bangladesh team escaped from their bus after it had gone to a Mosque near the Hagley Oval where Police are responding to reports of shots fired in Central Christchurch.

Several minutes after they were barred from getting off the bus, the players escaped and ran through Hagley Park.

Visibly shaken, the Bangladesh players even urged passers-by not go any further on Deans Avenue. They made it back to Hagley Oval where they are currently locked down in their dressing room, as the Manager Khaled Mashud is in contact with both the New Zealand Cricket (NZC) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Much of the Coaching Staff were back in the team hotel while the Head Coach Steve Rhodes was at the ground. Liton Das and Nayeem Hasan were also back in the hotel and have been contacted, and told to stay back at the hotel.
