Navy nabs 7 persons for illegal fishing

(UTV|COLOMBO) – A troop of Naval Personnel attached to the North-Western Naval Command apprehended seven persons who were engaging in illegal fishing during a patrol carried out in Sinnapadu area on Thursday (13).

The apprehended persons are residents of Sinnapaduwa, Madurankuliya and Palliyawasalapaduwa areas in the ages of 19, 34, 35, 37, 43, and 65.

Four dinghies, 4 Outboard motors (OBM), and 28 kilogrammes of fish catch have also been taken into Naval custody and they were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries Puttalam for further investigation.
