Rathgama Abduction: Residents block road to protest missing businessmen’s death

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Following the deaths of two businessmen who went missing in Bossa – Rathgama, their relatives and the area residents are claiming that they are being targeted by the Police.

Earlier on Saturday (23), the relatives and residents blocked the Galle Road at Rathgama to protest the deaths of two businessmen, 33-year-old Manjula Asela and 31-year-old Rasen Chinthaka who were abducted from the residence of Asela last month by a group of individuals dressed in uniforms similar to that of the Police Officers.

The investigations conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have revealed that the two missing businessmen were murdered in Akmeemana and their remains were burned at Medagangoda Forest Reserve in Walasmulla.

The Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Southern Province Special Crime Investigation Unit along with fifteen other Police Officers were ordered to be transferred on Friday (22), while a Police Inspector (IP) and a Sub Inspector (SI) attached to the same Unit were arrested over the incident.
