Daniel Craig joins Field’s “Creed of Violence”

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Daniel Craig is set to star in “In the Bedroom” and “Little Children” director Todd Field’s long-gestating drama film “The Creed of Violence” reports Collider. Craig will jump to the project towards year’s end once he wraps filming on his fifth and final outing as James Bond which will film for much of this year starting in April.

An adaptation of Boston Teran’s novel, the story depicts the 1910 Mexican revolution through the eyes of a small-time assassin named Rawbone (Craig) and a young Bureau of Investigation agent called John Lourdes. The pair – who are also estranged father-and-son – work together to infiltrate the Mexican criminal underground.

The project would mark Field’s third directorial effort and will shoot thirteen years after “Little Children” hit cinemas to much critical acclaim.

Craig and Field were both attached to the twenty-episode TV series “Purity” which was to shoot after Craig wrapped “Spectre”. However as the series required a massive $170 million budget, it stalled and has been stuck in development. His casting here would suggest both have moved on from that project.

Brian Oliver (“Hacksaw Ridge”) will produce “The Creed of Violence” which is setup New Republic Pictures which has a first-look deal with Paramount. Craig recently wrapped filming “Knives Out” for director Rian Johnson.
