“LEGO” Sequel To Jumpstart Dire Box-Office

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Following on from one of the worst weekends at the box-office in two decades, exhibitors will be happy with the news that the upcoming “The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part” will open strongly this week with the sequel on track for a $50-55 million start.

The movie is one of four wide releases opening this weekend. Also coming out is the R-rated comedy “What Men Want” which is headed for a $17-20 million opening, the Liam Neeson-led “Cold Pursuit” with a $7-10 million opening, and the horror film “The Prodigy” with a $6-9 million opening.

Those four will be joined next Wednesday by “Alita: Battle Angel,” “Happy Death Day 2U” and “Isn’t It Romantic” – together creating a swath of new films finally filling up the multiplexes which have been struggling without new content for much of January with the notable exception of “Glass”.
