President’s decission on Kandy garbage issue

(UTV|COLOMBO) -President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed relevant authorities to expeditiously resolve the issue of Katugasthota-Gohagoda garbage in Kandy as a major environmental issue.

That was at a discussion held at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (03).

The President has said that he would not allow another tragedy in Meethotamulla.

President Sirisena ordered the Central Environmental Authority (CEA) to provide assistance to the local government authorities to refrain from dumping garbage through a recycling system without causing distress to residents and the general public.
