Colombo Light Rail Transit system approved by cabinet

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Cabinet approval was granted to enter into a loan agreement of Rs. 200,415 million for a proposed light rail system from Colombo Multimodal Transport Hub to Malabe.

Japan International Cooperation Agency has agreed to provide 200,415 Japanese yen for this project.

The railway line is 17 kilometers long and has 16 railway stations.

The proposal was presented by the Minister of Finance and Mass Media Mangala Samaraweera.
