Chandrika in Maldives for Solih’s inauguration

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has arrived in Maldives for President-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s inauguration.

Former President Mohamed Nasheed greeted Chandrika at Velana International Airport upon her arrival on Friday (16).

Chandrika was one of the first from the international community to have expressed support of the Maldives Opposition Coalition, which helped elect Solih, after it was formed, saying that upholding democratic values is especially important for countries facing political discord such as Maldives and Sri Lanka.
