Speaker defends his position on No-Confidence Motion

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Speaker Karu Jayasuriya on Thursday (15) issued another letter in response to President Maithripala Sirisena, defending his [The Speaker] position on the No-Confidence Motion brought against President’s appointee for Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday (14).

In his reply-letter to President Sirisena, Speaker Jayasuriya stated that 122 Parliamentarians from multiple Political Parties voted against Rajapaksa and the voice vote was carried out according to proper Parliamentary procedure.
