Gold worth Rs.2.4 million seized at BIA

A 30-year-old individual was arrested at the Bandaranayake International Airport (BIA) this morning (24th Friday) while attempting to smuggle gold worth Rs.2.4 million to Bangalore.

The Customs said the gold tablets each weighing 400 grams were wrapped in carbon paper and concealed inside his hand luggage.

Following the Customs inquiry, the man who is a resident of Wattala was fined Rs.50,000 and the gold confiscated.
