Army gets new Tyre retreading facility

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka Army has established a state of the art Tyre retreading facility at its Ordnance Factory at Dombagoda in Horana.

According to army media sources the army funded new retreading section, capable of retreading more than 8,800 tyres annually was declared open by Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva on Monday (20th Feb.).

The Rs. 14 million worth facility will retreat 36 tyres per day and will be manned by 6 officers and 300 other rank personnel. With the operation of this facility the army expects to save Rs. 20.5 million annually.

The Ordnance Factory at Dombagoda and the Army Industrial Workshop at Kosgama were established with the objective of producing much needed supplies including hardware, barrack equipment, machinery tools and accessories required to the Army.
