Hydro power generation increased due to rainfalls

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The water levels of the reservoirs in the catchment areas have increased to 75 per cent due to the prevailing showers experienced in most parts of the island. Thereby, the hydro power generation has increased from 25 per cent to 35 per cent, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said.

Earlier, the water levels of the hydroelectric reservoirs have dropped drastically due to the dry weather conditions. The water levels of the Udawalawe Reservoir have dropped to 20 per cent in the recent past and now the water level has increased to 46 per cent.

The water level of the Kotmale Reservoir is up to 85 per cent and the water level of the Mausakelle Reservoir is 76.6 per cent and the water level of the Victoria Reservoir has increased to 81.6 per cent.
