(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Government on Sunday (30) condoled with Indonesia and its people, stating that it was saddened by the devastating tsunami in Indonesia.
President Maithripala Sirisena tweeted saying Sri Lanka stands in solidarity with the people of Indonesia in this hour of grief.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “We in Sri Lanka are deeply saddened by the loss of life and damages caused by the earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, Government and people of Indonesia. We stand in solidarity with them at this difficult time.”

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa also tweeted stating that, “Deeply saddened to see Indonesia facing another tragic earthquake and tsunami. The death toll on the Island of Sulawesi stands at 832 people, but Indonesian Officials expect that number to climb as rescuers on Monday (01) continue to sift through the destruction left by a powerful earthquake and tsunami.
