Showery condition expected to continue during next few days

UTV | COLOMBO – Showers or thundershowers will be expected over the most parts of the island particularly in the evening or night, according to the Meteorology Department.

Showery condition, particularly in the North-central, Central and Uva provinces is expected to continue during next few days.

Heavy falls about 100 mm can be expected at some places in the Central, Uva, Sabaragamuwa, North-central and Southern provinces.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in Western, Southern and North-western coastal areas in the morning too, it said.

Sea Area:

There is a possibility that sea areas will be fairly rough, off the coast extending from Panadura to Hambantota via Galle and Matara, may experience sea surges until the evening of 30th September 2018, due to the effect of swell waves, having 2.0-2.5 m height (This is not for land area.)

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Potuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.

Winds will be south-westerly in direction in the sea area around the island. Wind speed will be 20-30 kmph.

Temporarily strong gusty winds and rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
