Galaha calms after hospital protest

UTV | COLOMBO -The chaotic situation that erupted at Galaha hospital, following the death of a one and half-year-old child, has been contained.

The crowd who were protesting near the hospital were dispersed by police firing tear gas.

Our correspondent said that the people continued to behave in an unruly manner within and around the hospital premises, until around 8 pm last night.

The doctor in charge was required to be disguised in a police uniform in order to leave the hospital premises as a result of the protests.

The toddler, Sankar Sachee’s parent had been admitted him to the hospital because of the child experiencing heavy phlem and fever.
