Missing fishermen rescued and brought ashore

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka Police along with the Officials attached to the Navy have located and rescued the eleven fishermen who went missing after their boat capsized in rough seas off the Southern coast on Sunday (19).

The fishermen have been rescued by a boat left from Galle Harbour and they have been brought to the Harbour at around 10.15 AM today (20). Two of the fishermen have been admitted to the hospital.

The group who had set out for fishing over the weekend had informed the families of an accident off Hikkaduwa at around 5.45 last evening.

Police said relatives have lost all communication with the group after 9.00 last night.

Accordingly, a search and rescue operation was launched earlier today.
