Train Services Back To Normal – Railway Control Room

(UTV|COLOMBO) Four-day continuous train strike had been called off yesterday(12)  followed by the discussion held with President Maithripala Sirisena and services will return to normal as per the scheduled time-tables from this morning, Railway Control Room said.

Accordingly, the 7 pm Meenagaya Intercity Express train to Batticaloa, 7.15 pm Talaimannar train, Badulla Night Mail train at 8 pm, Jaffna/ Kankesanthurai train at 8.30 pm and the 9.30 pm, Batticaloa/ Trincomalee Night Mail train commenced operations from last night.

As a result of the strike, the Railway Department incurred a loss of 70 million rupees and the SLTB suffered a loss in excess of Rs. 10 million.
