“Gov. diverting attention from constitution” – Muzammil

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The National Freedom Front (NFF) says the government is in a concerted effort to divert public attention from the new constitution. Speaking during a media briefing today NFF Media Spokesman Mohammed Muzammil said the government is using several tactics to pass the constitution without attracting attention.

Muzammil said, “One member of the government says not a word has been written into law. Another member says the draft will be handed over the next two weeks”. He said therefore it was clear that the government is trying to mislead the public in passing this constitution.

Responding to the allegation MP Thushara Indunil said one of the major promises made to the public during the previous two elections was the introduction of a new constitution. The Parliamentarian said the process is extremely transparent and said the elected government will live up to its election promises.
