“All must work towards to free people from poverty” – President

(UTV|COLOMBO) – “It is the responsibility of each and every one to fulfil their respective duties to free the people from poverty while properly implementing the development plans and programmes by the Government to eliminate poverty,” President Maithripala Sirisena said.

He made these remarks participating in the Sabaragamuwa Province Action Committee of the Grama Shakthi People’s Movement held at the Ratnapura Provincial Council Auditorium, on Wednesday (25).

President Sirisena said that funds will be allocated for the construction of a 24-hour trade park comprised of stalls in the Kegalle Town and further said that Rs. 25 million will be released in the next week as the first phase and the total cost for this project is Rs. 65 million.

The President further noted that funds will be released speedily to implement the proposals put forward for development activities in the Ratnapura District.
