(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake said that he will file a defamation lawsuit against Parliamentarian (MP) Udaya Gammanpila.
The lawsuit will be filed against the statement made by the MP, accusing the minister of making a loss of 6 thousand 500 million rupees to the government through a company that imports vehicle assembling parts.
The petition against the Finance Minister with regard to this allegation was filed with the Bribery Commission under the Joint Opposition’s corruption charges move ‘TOP TEN’ yesterday (16th Thursday).
In the meantime, Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake who rejected the allegations by Gammanpila during a media briefing held at his office today said that he is ready to reply to any question before the media.
Meanwhile, the Colombo High Court decided today to hear the Case against Udaya Gammanpila in which he is accused of misusing a power of attorney and selling out some shares belonging to an Australian national.
High Court Judge R. Gurusinghe stated that testifying of the Case will begin with effect from March 1st accordingly.
