Tri-Forces to be empowered for controlling illegal drug trade

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to bring in legislation seeking the active contribution of Tri-Forces for controlling illegal drugs.

The proposal to draft a Drug Controlling Special Provision Bill, empowering the Tri-Forces for a particular period as recommended by the Attorney General has received the cabinet approval at the weekly cabinet meeting on Wednesday (11).

The proposal was presented by President Maithripala Sirisena in his capacity as the Minister of Defense and Minister of Public Administration and Law and Peace Ranjith Madduma Bandara.
