Police Inspector arrested for accepting a bribe

UTV | COLOMBO – The officials of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption have arrested an Inspector of Police, attached to kalkudah Police for accepting a bribe of Rs. 300,000 from a businessman.

The arrest was made this morning (Jul 10).

The Director of Investigations at the Bribery Commission, Priyantha Chandrasiri said that the police officer has demanded the bribe to issue a document to a businessman from Veyangoda for him to obtain the license from the Central Environmental Authority to start a bricks manufacturing factory in Kalkudah.

The suspect was arrested inside the Koralepattu Pradeshiya Sabha while he was accepting the bribe.

The suspect will be produced before the Valachchenai Magistrate.
