Vijayakala tenders resignation

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Vijayakala Maheswaran tendered her resignation letter resigning from the State Minister of Child Affairs portfolio, to President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Thursday (05).

The decision was based following her controversial statements made in Jaffna in Monday (02).

Meanwhile, the United National Party (UNP) has decided to conduct an inquiry against Vijayakala over her recent remarks in Jaffna.

Addressing the “Janapathi Nila Mehewara” event at the Weerasingham Hall in Jaffna on Monday, Vijayakala stated that the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) Organisation should be resurrected in order to ensure incidents such as the recent murder of a child in Jaffna does not take place.
