New HR law for Dubai Government approved

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of Dubai, on Sunday (01) approved a new human resources law for Dubai Government.

The law recognises the possibility of appointment on the basis of “Remote work” and gives people of determination an additional bonuses.

It also grants employees five days instead of three days for mourning leave upon the death of a relative of the second degree.

The newly approved law increases the annual leave from 22 to 25 days for employees of grade 8 to 11, meanwhile employees of grade 7 and below will receive 18 days instead of 15.

The law also features a number of privileges including granting an annual travel allowance for the employee’s family members who are under the age of 21 instead of 18 years. The previous law limited travel allowance to three children while the new law abolishes that cap.

The law provides an opportunity for employees to apply internally for any vacant position and to be transferred without the need to meet promotion conditions when that employee deserves it.

It also grants employees the right to receive overtime allowance directly with the approval of his/her immediate supervisor, provided that the extra working hours should be noted in writing specifying said overtime hours spent after the official working hours.

It also grants a five-day comprehensive leave for the employee who is preparing researches, projects and graduation letters.

The law allows promoting an employee who, as a result of the evaluation of his or her performance, meets the expectations and there was a need for achievements and experience which gives more flexibility in the application of career paths.

The new human resources law for Dubai Government was approved with a view to creating a conducive environment for innovation and furthering the emirate’s profile as a model for innovation and excellence.
